More snow and a circus

Not much to report from NW MO, the weather has not been great so we have been hunkered down in the house waiting patiently for Spring! Last weekend we got 5 inches of snow and this weekend is has rained and turned cold again after a fairly warm week.

Allison and Cole Schweiser took us to the Shriner Circus this weekend. We had a great time but were tired puppies all afternoon.
This circus was legit, it had elephants, trick dogs, acrobats and clowns. Very entertaining!

Last weekend we got a bunch of snow, luckily all of Derek's cattle had calved and the calves were up and kicking. Derek tried to get Wyatt a ride on this calf, it wasn't as enthused!

This calf was as curious of Wyatt as Wyatt was of him.

Good calf, my camera was slow and I was too late to get a picture of these two touching noses!

Happy Valentine's Day!

"The future's so bright, I gotta wear shades!"

I guess we now have a "collection" of silly little kid sunglasses.

Trivia Night champions! We squeaked by in the final round for our 2nd win in a row. We attend these trivia night fundraisers in St. Joseph for fun and because we are pretty competitive. Our group consists of a librarian, English teacher, History teacher, SpEd teacher, Ag teacher, a music and car junkie and my husband, the sports junkie. We were missing two more, a science teacher and English professor - we have our bases covered!

A warm weekend

Wyatt LOVES to be outside (even if it is freezing). Saturday's weather was warm and we hitched up the chore boots and went outside! Wyatt immediately heads for the Quonset hut because that is where all the action is (cows and tractors).

Fortunately for us, Papa and Uncle Terry left the 4-wheeler up at our place over the weekend. Wyatt already knows how to drive it (sort of) and Derek and I both gave him rides around the yard and farm.

Wyatt loves to go with Derek anywhere. I don't know if it is because his car seat is in the front of the truck (as opposed to the backseat of my car) or it is some boy-gene that causes an affinity for trucks and farm work. Derek had gotten home and Wyatt "ran" over to the truck and tried to open the door.

Feeling bad he wasn't going anywhere to take Wyatt, Derek took him out in the lot to run water for his cows.

M-I-Z! The Big Monday MU-KU game was last night (yawn, tired today). MU came away with a win after a pretty good game, not really the first half though. While watching the post-game celebrations, Derek started yelling "There's Ethan, there's Ethan!" One of my past students had made it to the floor and gave Zaire Taylor a high-five! He is wearing the yellow shirt with dark hair. Way to go Big E! Are you wondering how I got this picture? We have DVR and rewound the game and paused it at this point. I then took pictures with my digital camera so I could email them to his Mom (Jenita had already gone to bed.) Z-O-U!!!

Super Party Weekend

The Holt household has a very busy weekend. Wyatt and I went to Tipton on Friday and then I went to Columbia to hang-out with my Sigma Kappa friends. We went to the MU-Baylor ballgame and then to our old haunts (B&G!). On Sunday we went over the the Schweizer's for the Super Bowl, apparently is was a good game but we were busy watching the boys!

Wyatt Holt and Cole Schweizer - having a blast at the Super Bowl party.

Lindy and Wyatt, Cole and Allison - this was a fleeting moment with both boys sitting still (sort of).

Megan Baumann and M.J.

Cole has all of these awesome toys he shared with Wyatt. They played along pretty good.

Cory and Cole teasing Greg and Madison - she will rule these boys when she is older.

Wyatt and Derek

Kelly Vogt, Kate Winker and Jessica Uhlmeyer at the Mizzou ballgame. I was really bad about taking pictures, or lack of.

Mizzou warming up for the game against Baylor. They won and very good game! It was the first sold out game of the year!

Winter, yuck...

All I have to say is that darn groundhog better not see his shadow on Monday or I will shoot him!
We got about 3-4" if snow this weekend and overnight (1-27) it had snowed a bit again. But this snow was the cool kind that sticks to all the branches and stuff - making our backyard and land very pretty!

Wyatt can be very demanding sometimes, like when he is hungry. He will drag out the high-chair and try to climb up in it. He has also climbed up on the changing table when he had a dirty diaper (so Derek claims.) The beer box is there because the recycling was full from our trivia-season warm-up party the night before. Wyatt is not a fan of the Boulevard, but Mommy's friends are! There is a group of us that play in trivia tournaments in St. Joseph that are held as fundraisers. We won one last year and we always have a great time!

Things were too quite in the Holt household on Sunday morning, this is what Wyatt was entertaining himself with.

We love to draw! Wyatt started drawing on all of our important paperwork lately, so I dug out an old notebook in my college box (where do you put that stuff?). We have collected crayons from various restaurants and keep them in a tin for drawing time. I tried those toddler egg-shaped markers from Crayola but Wyatt just wanted to put his hands in the ink, very messy!

18 months old!

Where has the time gone? Wyatt reached the ripe old age of 18 months on January 11th (this post is about a week late). Just like all toddlers, his is on the go and into everything. He gains more and more words everyday but sticks to the standbys of Mom-ee, Dad-ee, Pa-pa, ball, No-No (usually at the dog), a-duh (all done) and Dis-ee (Dixie). Today while Derek was outside Wyatt said "Bye-bye Dad-ee" while looking out the kitchen window! He will repeat words like water, banana, Booker, and kitty but doesn't use them independently yet. Even though he isn't a chatterbox yet, his physical properties aren't too shabby. He launched a cup from the bathtub the other day and very nearly clocked me in the face! He loves his basketball goal and dunking the ball. The other day I caught him throwing golf balls at the goal (where did he find golf balls?!) Those were quickly confiscated. Here are some pictures of how we have been filling the cold dreary days of January....
It was decently warm this Saturday so Wyatt and I went to St. Joseph to the new Nature Center. Next to it is the Riverwalk trail that goes along the Missouri River up to downtown St. Joe. It is paved and very scenic. There was ice on the river but it was in the high 40's!

In the Nature Center there is a exhibit on the history of St. Joseph. It was a cow-town and on the edge of the unsettled west. By this display, saloons were a big thing in Old Joe Town. Wyatt liked going through the doors, in-out-in-out-in-out.

Here is a stuffed wolf that howled when you pushed a button. Wyatt was not liking this display. When you first walk in there is a life-sized model of a woolly mammoth. I think it was a lot for a toddler to take in at first. But when we got to the displays with buttons he could push, he had a good time!

Another thing we have been keeping busy with is South Holt Basketball, we went to the South Holt-Mound City game for a bit. Sitting in the stands is okay for about 15 minutes and then we are on the move. Wyatt likes to go down to the practice gym and play ball himself.

Here is Wyatt with his friend Katie Mendenhall, they go to the same daycare. She had on an adorable cheerleader outfit! They sat on the steps for a few minutes of the game. Wyatt likes to cheer along with the crowd!

Holiday recovery

Despite all the awesome toys Wyatt got for Christmas, this is what I see on the kitchen floor one night - Wyatt playing with a calculator!

New thing at our house, Wyatt likes to pull the lever for the foot-rest of the recliner. He then will climb up it and into the chair. He has enjoyed watching "Bob the Builder" from this vantage point.

6th annual New Year's Eve party at our house. Of course due to tradition, we don't take any pictures, but I had to get this one of Cole Schweizer "spending the night" with Wyatt. The party broke up around 1 am (yeah, we still got it!) and it was a blast. Consensus of the night - Fox's coverage of New Year's is a whole lot colorful than Dick Clark's Rockin' New Years Eve.

Picture from Grandma Vesta Holt's house. Here is Clayton Townsend showing Wyatt how to use his new tractor - it makes noise!

Terri and Keri with her puppies calendar (Derek and I got the matching cats calendar)

Wyatt with a little help from Mommy opening his gift from Great Grandma Vesta - a noisy guitar but it does play cool songs (a la Guitar Hero)
