Happy Birthday Allison!

Our friend Allsion Schweiser turned 30 this weekend. Her husband Cory planned a surprise party for her at the orchard their family owns. I think she was surprised, but she snuck up on everyone while we were hanging out. Whoops! Her son Cole is making sure the icing is edible.

Grandpa Steve Schweiser made train from wood for the kids to play on. Here are Wyatt and Cole in windows. They had a great time on all the playground stuff there!

Greg Baumann and Madison, she was hungry!

Derek was really impressed that Wyatt could hold on to the monkey bars and hang for a long time! He made me come watch Wyatt do it.

Just a funny picture from Sunday afternoon.

100th post all the way from Omaha

I noticed that this in my 100th post, I am surprised that I have actually kept up with this blog! I mentioned earlier in the summer about taking Wyatt to the zoo, well Derek turned it into a 3 day vacation to Omaha. I can't say no to him when he actually gets time off the farm so off we went! Omaha is only about 1 1/2 hour drive from our house so it was an easy drive. I have only been in Nebraska once or twice, and that was to eat dinner in Rulo.
Wyatt and I at the giraffe, ostrich and penguin exhibit. (Do these three species live together in nature? hmmmm....)

A very tired Wyatt woke up in time to ride a train through the zoo, those are wallabies in the background (this picture is for Derek's sister and her family who live in Sydney!)

In the petting zoo at the zoo the only animals they had to pet were goats. Wyatt was carrying bits of hay over to this nanny goat for her to eat. Wyatt loves to feed our dog and cats at home too. Sometimes he feeds the inside cats so much there is a huge pile of food in the bowl and all over the floor.

Omaha has a pedestrian bridge that goes over the Missouri River, so we walked over to Iowa and back. Wyatt insisted on pushing his own stroller for a bit.

The Children's Museum had a traveling exhibit that was Sesame Street characters and teaching about body parts. The entrance to the exhibit looked like the show set. Wyatt loves Sesame Street (especially Elmo) so we thought it would be fun for him.

"Weeee-oooooo, weeee-oooo" Wyatt played in this old fire truck at the Children's Museum and that is his noise for firetrucks.

Oh, watch out Daddy! I took this of Wyatt doing the "mad-flop". Those of you with toddlers knows this move well, they get mad and drop like dead-weight to the floor. Good thing Derek is used to carrying buckets of feed, I let him take care of this tantrum.

There was a ball machine at this museum that entertained Wyatt for about an hour! I told Derek it was worth the money to pay for this place, Wyatt was soooooo tired when we left he barely made it through lunch. He took a great nap this afternoon (and so did I!)

The last day we went to their Union Station and they have a train museum. Since Wyatt really likes "choo-choo's" He was in heaven all morning - and slept all the way back home!

Summer Fun

We have really been enjoying the awesome weather this summer! We have done a lot of yard work (4 trees were cut down) and I painted and cleaned the bedroom upstairs. So we moved our bedroom upstairs and our old room in now an office. Wyatt loves to be outside and we have a lot of things for him to do....
Who among us didn't have one of these little kiddie plastic pools growing up? I know the inflatable ones at popular now but Woodie the Dog punctures them. I think Wyatt liked the hose the best.
Trying to get a drink.

Melanie Acklin was back home caring for the farm while her parents were at the Calgary Stampede. We ran up to visit with her and Wyatt got his first horse ride (which lasted 30 seconds until he freaked out!)
Mel has started her own blog about her life traveling as the Marketing Director of Specialty Fertilizer Products. It is very entertaining! http://thetravelingcowgirl.blogspot.com/

This roping dummy was more Wyatt's speed.

Funny sight: Wyatt decided we needed to go to the store, so he put on my crocs, grabbed a grocery sack, was out the door and headed to the car! The kitten was getting in his way and slowing him up. I really need to make sure that back door latches when closed!

Wyatt is 2!!!!

Wyatt's 2nd birthday was this past Saturday and we had a full day! Ma and Papa Edwards came up to the farm as well as Aunt Stacey and her boyfriend Justin. Once the Holt side got to our house, Wyatt didn't know who to play with next!
Wyatt's Aunt Stacey made his cake, complete with Elmo and Cookie Monster.

A Thomas train set from the Goodall's. Thanks, he loves "choo-choos"!

"Please read me this book Ma"

A cool trike from Grandma and Papa Holt.

Wyatt had a hard time opening all the gifts, he wanted to immediately play with the ones he opened. We started hiding them so he could open the next gift. Thank you to our family for the great gifts and the good time we had at Wyatt's party!

Independance Day 09

Per tradition, we went to Derek's Grandma Vesta's house for the Fourth of July. We have Black Angus hamburgers, homemade ice cream, and watch all the fireworks being shot-off in town. Vesta's house is on a high hill north of Savannah. I bought $6.25 worth of fireworks this year to introduce Wyatt to them; the poppers spooked him, fountains were boring but sparklers were the bomb! Enjoy the video of Wyatt with his first sparkler!

After 4 sparklers, it was a little smokey. But it drove a lot of the flies away!
Wyatt and Grandma Terri raided the toy box at Vesta's. This old mailbox was Aunt LouAnn's and still entertains a youngster. While looking at these pictures later, Derek and I discovered Wyatt and Joe Lyle were dressed alike! If only we had remembered Wyatt's cowboy hat, darn!

Yummm, Pa-pa Bill loves to feed his grandchildren ice cream! Watch out Janae!

Earlier in the day on the 4th, Wyatt and I drove up to Mound City to watch their parade. The Ryan's invited us to sit at their house on the parade route and many other school friends were there! The Quinlin's sat with us and their 2 kids (Andrew and Lauren) were very good with Wyatt! Which is good because they have a little sibling due very soon, but not soon enough for Landi! She was so sympathetic when I was pregnant with Wyatt and I try to return the favor now.

Here are Wyatt and Lauren patiently waiting for the tractor portion of the parade. The Quinlin kids were right on top of the candy being thrown out and would share it with Wyatt (who had no clue what was going on, he would go nuts if they were throwing out bananas!) We came home with a nice little stash of suckers and gum, thanks guys!

Tractors and a Wedding

Okay, I am a little behind on updating my blog, bear with me. The last weekend in June was a busy one. I headed to Columbia (alone!) to attend the wedding of my childhood friend Laura Uptergrove and Jonathan Jones. We say we are each others' oldest friends because we, plus her sister Sarah and cousin Alaina, went to the same babysitters house (Nana's!) I had a great time and loved hanging out with Kristin and her guys, Sarah, Leslie, Holly, Emma and Hannah at the reception and hotel.
Bride and Groom with the cake. I was having so much fun I forgot to take many pictures.
Before I let NWMO, Wyatt and I got up early so we were ready to watch the Show-Me tractor cruise go through Savannah. We went to the Schweiser's house to play with Cole and Cooper. Their neighbors were nice enough to invite us to sit in their driveway to wait for the tractors. Over 270 tractors drove from Savannah to Helena to St. Joe and back that day to raise money for charity.

"Tractor, Tractor, Tractor!"

Cole and Wyatt kept Allison and I VERY BUSY!

Wyatt's 2 year pictures

I took Wyatt to JCPenney's this week to get his 2 year old pictures taken. He did VERY good for the photos, but was a handful afterwards when I was trying to order the pictures. Penney's portrait studio takes good and inexpensive picture (with a coupon!) but I hate having to decide what I want right then. And then they push these multi-pics on you for big bucks. I picked out what I think I wanted and paid for the option to have digital copies to share with all of you! Enjoy!
