May 2010

May was a very full month! Attending all the events and fighting the weather I am glad to see June and Summer finally begin! These pictures are in reverse order, going back through the month.

Derek and I went to his cousin's wedding in Nebraska over Memorial Day weekend.

Jesse and Bethany Holt, congrats!

Wyatt was pretty well-behaved, he did have a lot of people to entertain him. Grandma was watching him play with my iTouch.

Wyatt has begun to "help" Derek mow. He likes to walk about 10 yards behind the mower and follow Derek around the yard. He will do this the entire time Derek mows! By the time they are done, Wy is covered with grass and needs to get hosed off.

Wyatt found a dry place to play with his trucks, on a truck! he climbed up there all by himself and stayed busy for a long while. This gave me time to work in the yard.

Got all the trucks lined up.

Did you wonder what Wyatt's clothes were all covered with? This is where I found him earlier, playing in the feed tank! I think he believes it is like a sandbox.

Weeeee! He was having a grand old time playing in the corn!

We had both Grandmas here one weekend for dinner. Can you say "spoiled"?!

Both sets of Grandparents enjoying some cool weather, steak dinner and a baseball game (oh and Wyatt!)

My little garden, currently planted with lettuce, spinach, radishes, onions and broccoli.

One of the outside cats had kittens and Wyatt loves to play with them. We are having a hard time learning that you can't carry them around in a choke hold. They are getting so cute now and are available for adoption in a couple weeks!

Wyatt calls our current bottle calf "Smokey" because last years bottle calf we named Smokey. Derek tried to name this one "Buster" but it didn't stick. So now it is Smokey II. Wyatt thinks he has it halter broke and likes to help Daddy feed it.

April Fun!

Playing in the barn, so many fun things in there.

New bottle calf, Derek's dad gave us another calf to raise for Wyatt. He wanted to help hold the bottle.

Since I was using my computer, Wyatt got out his so we could work at the same time!

April is not complete without a trip to CoMo for State FFA Convention. My three State Degree guys: Cameron Radley, Tyler Costello and Bryant Kurtz. I will really miss these guys!

Derek's sister Janae came back with her girls from Australia for Easter. We had a grill out for their last night there. The weather has been awesome so we enjoyed playing outside.

Aunt Keri pulling the wagon, good thing to take turns riding and pulling.

Easter 2010

Wyatt did a great job hunting eggs, we did practice some before the big day. :)

Daddy and Papa Tom hid the eggs around the backyard of my parents' house.

"Yeah, he found one!" Derek is acting silly.

Ma showing Wyatt why the eggs rattle, there are treats inside! The practice eggs were treat less.

Now Wyatt has to open each one when he finds them, this slowed down the hunting process.

Family picture - its not great but its the best we took. Wyatt was really tired because we got up for Sunrise service at church.

The weekend after Easter we visited with Derek's Mom's side of the family -the Miller's. We had lunch and then let the kiddos play in the backyard while the adults refereed. There are now 6 kids on that side. Diane had a bunch of great old toys the kids loved, like this spring horse.

Wyatt is learning how to share with his cousin Riley - it was a very hard lesson.

Brevyn and Alyssa playing with the Dora ball. What a beautiful warm day! We have been having some GREAT weather since Easter!

L-R: Celise, Brevyn, Riley, Wyatt, Emma and Alyssa - can't believe we got 5 out of 6 to sit and smile!

March Madness

March has been a pretty busy month so far. Today we went to the circus in St. Joe with Allison and Cols Schweiser. The boys behaved so well (Cole better than Wyatt) and we had a great time! Wyatt was pooped and took a very long nap this afternoon. That gave me time to clean a bit and enjoy my new computer, especially now that I have the wireless router working! I am currently updating my blog while sitting on the couch watching the Big 12 Championship game, go Wildcats!
Wyatt giving Cole a hug, how sweet! I think he really wanted to wrestle (see the Super Bowl post)

In awe of the circus spectacular! We saw elephants and bears and clowns!

Derek and I had been saying since Christmas that we were GOING to the Big 12 Championship Tournament now that it is back in Kansas City (where it belongs). I found tickets on StubHub Sunday afternoon for the first session on Wednesday for a decent price. We took the day off and headed to KC and the Sprint Center. This is the crowd between the Power & Light District and Sprint Center after the MU game. What a fun atmosphere (too bad I had to work the next day.)
I think we are going to go back later for our anniversary and eat at the Flying Saucer - Derek's choice.

MU warming up, this was the closest the score ever was. MU had a terrible game and Nebraska played lights out. Despite the loss, it was still fun. Our tickets were not bad either, I fully endorse StubHub!

Another picture a little closer. M-I-Z Z-O-U! I think Derek is on board for attending again next year, but hopefully MU will get a bye in the first round!

Winter Wrap-up?!

Could we be at the end of this terrible winter?! It is March and we are starting to venture outside. I hosted a small tailgate before the South Holt district basketball game for a bunch of students (districts is at North Andrew HS, very close to my house.) It was a beautiful afternoon to be outside and a great night for a ballgame, Knights beat their rivals the Mound City Panthers!

Derek and Wyatt like to listen to AC/DC in the kitchen after dinner. Wyatt has started dancing to "Thunderstruck", his favorite song!

Derek and Wyatt dancing together. Please ignore Derek's pants. He changes out of his jeans right inside the back door because they are dirty from the farm. He got these plaid MU lounge pants for Christmas and loves them!

Go Knights! Wyatt went with me to the first round of district play, South Holt defeated South Nodaway (Barnard) easily. He is pretty well behaved at ballgames, we bring a bunch of trucks that he runs back and forth on the bleachers.

Derek made the decision to start eating dinner at the dinner table. He thinks Wyatt is too big for a high chair and it is room crowded at the pub table in the kitchen. Here are us sitting down for a family meal. Wyatt does pretty good about not getting out of his chair too much. He did fall out of the chair the first two nights, but no tears - he just gets up and says "okay, okay".

Super Bowl weekend

Our weekend went fast, we had more snow and watched the Super Bowl at our friends' the Schweisers' house, with the Baumann's. We had a great time, thanks again!
Just a regular Friday night at our house! Toys everywhere and Derek and Wyatt are playing some sort of "ball" game.

More snow in NWMO! Derek and Wyatt made a snowman in the backyard.

Playing in Cooper's room. Poor Madison was the only girl and didn't know exactly how to play and not get knocked over!

The adults watching the game, who's watching the kids?!

Cole and Wyatt pushing their toys around the house.

The boys started wrestling - who taught them this? It is definitely a boy thing!

Here Madison is trying to figure out how to play with them again, but it is looking too dangerous!

Snow Days

This has been a heck of a winter so far in NWMO. We got another blizzard the first week in January (plus two more snow days) and temps well below zero. We made it through and now we are left with huge piles of melting snow.
This is on my way to Oregon to school. MODOT had to bring the huge snow blowers to clear both lanes of Hwy 59.

Snow drift over the cattle waterer, Derek had to keep digging it out so the cattle could get to water. After the latest snow, the drift was all the way to the top of the fence!

Wyatt had to get creative to stay entertained in the house this whole time. He used this stool as a tunnel for his trains, I then got the Legos out to make more tunnels. This Thomas set is Wyatt's current favorite toy, closely followed by Legos.

Playing with the the Play-Doh, it was mildly entertaining and only lasted about 15 minutes.
