Laura's shower

Wyatt loves to go to the Tipton City Park. He climbed all over this boat on the playground.

A very brave Wyatt can go down the tall slide on a hill at the park. My Mom is waiting for him at the bottom.

Our main reason for going home was to attend my friend Laura's wedding shower. Her and her sister Sarah (above taking notes) and Alaina are my oldest friends, we all went to the babysitters together when we were little. It was a great shower and my Mom and I enjoyed seeing all the Tuttles and other friends there.

Laura received this quilt as a gift, it includes bits of fabric from her life, old clothes, old curtains, ect. It was VERY neat and beautiful! Pictured right to left: Mother of the bride Judy, Bride Laura, sister Sarah and Grandma Leola (who helped teach my kindergarten class!) I am looking forward to the wedding and the bachelorette float trip!

Name that mess!

If you guessed mud, you are correct! This is me catching Wyatt red-handed, or should I say dirty-handed?!

Playing Outside

Wyatt likes to play with the kittens, but also likes to copy his Dad. Derek threw an adult cat off the porch and now Wyatt likes to throw the kittens too. Yikes! Well, they are also tormented by Woody the dog. If I could just get them to stay off the back step we would ALL be a little happier.

We went mushroom hunting last Friday and found some! Wyatt had a pretty good time but was tired when we got back to the truck. Can you tell he is not happy in this picture?

Wyatt has all of a sudden started insisting on wearing his Cardinals hats outside. Granted this is the only hat he has so Derek is determined to buy him a Royals one, I am not really helping with this task. ;)

Easter - 2009

It was a cold day this Easter, so we held our egg-hunting festivities inside! Here are the kiddos rushing upstairs at Great-Grandma Vesta's house to look for the eggs hidden in her playroom.

Emma and Alyssa (Derek's sister's kids) were pretty hyped for the hunt. Emma wanted to open each egg she found and check out its contents.

I had been practicing with Wyatt his egg-hunting skills. I would hide eggs around the living room and he would follow me and put them in his basket. He did pretty good if the eggs were in plain sight.

We can still have fun inside!

Wyatt liked the eggs colored like sports balls (basketball, baseball, ect.)

The day before Easter we went to the Patee House Museum in St. Joseph. Janae and Adrain always go down there when they are back from Australia for the girls to ride the carousel. Wyatt and I joined them this time, here they are on the back of a train caboose in the museum.

Alyssa on a small horse getting pumped for her ride.

Wyatt liked this horse better than the actual carousel, it freaked him out a bit.

When does this ride end?

I think Wyatt's favorite part of the Patee House museum was this ramp. He liked to walk up and down on it. There was also a real train engine you could climb on. he kept pointing at it and saying "too-too", which means choo-choo!

Birthdays and crazy weather

Last weekend I wrote that it had snowed all day Saturday, well Sunday was a peach of a day! A little chilly, but we did get outside for a while before going up to Derek's parents' house for a birthday dinner.
During a trip to Orscheln's, Wyatt and I found these kids cowboy hats. I had him try one on and that was it, he wasn't taking it off! This boy always took off baseball caps but he walked around the store holding this hat on! Well of course I bought it and he wore it all weekend! Here are Derek and Wyatt checking cattle.

Wyatt loves to ride in the truck with Derek and he had to take his hat off to get in the seat.

Last Sunday night we celebrated Derek's Dad's and Brother-in-law Jon's birthdays. Aunt Keri loves to get Wyatt all riled up.

Jon was very good to let Wyatt open some of his gifts, Wyatt loved the ribbon!

Wyatt and Papa Bill, Wyatt loves to waller anyone sitting on the couch.

Yucky Weekend

Okay, it seems like every weekend is one extreme in weather or the other. Last weekend was warm and sunny. This weekend's forecast was cold and 3-6" of snow, SNOW!!!! Well, it did snow and sleet and rain but nothing really accumulated. Today (Sunday) it is warmer, if 45 degrees is warmer. Derek tied our bottle calf Smokey up out in the sun since it had been in the barn for several days. She is doing really well and sucks the milk out of the bottle rather fast. We now have a bottle holder we clamp on the gate and can go about other chores. She has a lot more energy and was not real happy about the halter.
Smokey at about 2 weeks old. Since she is a heifer should it be "Smokie"?

I bought this ride on tractor for Wyatt to ride outside, and as soon as we got it together the weather turned off bad. He has enjoyed riding it around the house this week. The first couple days we had to pry him off it to take a bath. I even hid it one morning so we didn't have a melt-down as we left for school.

Wyatt found the screwdriver and is trying to "fix" it like we were doing when we put it together. There are stickers that go on it to make it look more like a tractor, but the screws are stripped out and I am going to have to glue it together (it WAS pretty cheap for a JD toy).

Getting the yard-work done

This weekend my parents came up to rural Andrew County and helped with a little yard work. The weather was beautiful and with a couple extra eyes we could get stuff done and Wyatt was well-watched over. Derek and I also gained possession of a heifer calf (rejected twin) that had trouble taking a bottle. After many days of working with her and the bottle and tube feeding we are glad to say she started taking the bottle! Derek wants to call her "Smokey", several people in the area burned off their fields this weekend, so the air was a bit smokey. Stay tuned.....
Grandpa Tom giving Wyatt a ride in the wheelbarrow.

I bought Wyatt this little watering can so he can help me with the flowers and the garden. Being the classic boy, he would pour the water in the dirt and then put his hands in the mud it created.

This bucket of water was pumped out of the well, Wyatt got good at filling his watering can with water and then he started putting handfuls of dirt back in the water. He last bit of action was putting his entire arm in the water and splashing it everywhere!
