Our first trip to Boston!

Derek, Wyatt and I all took a trip to Boston the first weekend of October.  Derek's sister's family moved there from Australia this July and this was the weekend Derek thought he could get away.  We flew out on Thursday evening so we could have 2 full days in Boston.
The pilots on the first flight let Wyatt sit in the Captain's chair in the cockpit.  They let him wear their hat and he got a candy bar for being a good little passenger.  We thought our experience with Delta was great!

On Friday, Derek and I got to hit Boston by ourselves!  Janae kept Wyatt at the house so he could play with Alyssa and help pick up Emma from school.  Our first stop was the Sam Adams brewery for their tour.  We really enjoyed the tour!

Our favorite part of the tour! (Cream Stout)  My favorite was the Harvest Pumpkin Ale and Derek likes the Octoberfest and Cream Stout.

Wyatt and his cousins are watching a little TV before dinner.  They got along soooo well!

The kids by the frog pond in Boston Commons.  It was a BEAUTIFUL fall day in Boston - we couldn't have had better weather!

Janae and Derek help the kids feed the ducks/geese/swans our leftover breakfast toast.  This is the pond in the Public Gardens that usually have the swan boats, but we had just missed them closing for winter by a couple days.

The kids on the "Make Way for Ducklings" statue.  It was a challenge to get a good picture, the park was crowded and we had to learn to take turns on the statue while the parents took pictures.

Us at Boston Harbor.  We didn't have enough time to take a Harbor cruise, the kids were running our of gas.  But it was nice to watch the boats!

Back at Janae and Adrian's house the kids play outside while I grilled chicken for dinner.  Derek and Adrian decided they wanted to go to the Red Sox vs. Yankee game at 4:30 pm.  They took the train into town and bought tickets on the street, only missing a bit of the first inning.  They found some empty seats pretty close to the field and got to watch a great game go into extra innings!  They missed the train back out to the 'burbs so they had to spend a couple hours at the bar waiting for the next one (I think they had a great time!)

Here is a picture of Derek's sister and her family.  We had a fantastic time and have many more thing we would like to do the next time we visit!  I am thinking a trip to the beach next summer!  See you at Christmas

August 2010

Wow, August was a blur of activity, especially the countdown to school starting.  We went to Tipton for a wedding (Sarah Johansen and David Harms), hit the State Fair (I working the FFA Bldg the first day while my Mom and Dad took Wyatt around the Fair), and I had a birthday.  No big party, but a very nice day at home with my boys!  School started off very well and I am really looking forward to a great year!  Sand volleyball was wrapped up but HS sports are now in full swing!
While we were at the Fair I took Wyatt through the sheep barn and he got to pet a couple.  He thought they were so funny!  I think their spandex outfits are funny!
I have to go drop some of my students projects/exhibits in the FFA building before the Fair starts.  Cara White went with us and we met up with Jeff Baumann, they teach at Savannah.  Wyatt was trying to help Jeff with some of his crop exhibits.
There were a few days before school started that I had at home with Wyatt.  We got out this magnetic alphabet fishing game one day.  I am not sure who had more fun, Wyatt or one of the kittens!
"No, baby kitty!  My letters!"

We met up with a few friends to go bowling in Savannah one Saturday night.
Here Derek and our friend Chad find their ball for their turn.
Wyatt fell asleep on the way to town and didn't wake up even when we took him into the bowling alley.  He took a bit of a nap on the seats while we got set up to bowl.  IT was a great time and hope to do it again!

A Busy July!

Whew, July flew by!  The 4th of July was sort of a bust, we got rained out so we had to save our fireworks for Wyatt b-day party.  We did go fishing during the afternoon of the 4th with some neighbors, but the pictures are on my "lost" camera.  I am still hoping it turns up sometime!

The biggest event this July (and most Julys from now on) was Wyatt's birthday - the big 3!

Wyatt's lawn-mower he got for his b-day.  He will drive it all over the yard, sometimes he even puts toys or the kittens in the trailer.  In this pic he is saying "Stop Mommy!"

Okay, I did try and cut his hair myself with the clippers, but it was a horrible mess!  It was hot, the hair stuck all over him and he cried!  When I was done I turned on the sprinkler to wash all the hair off.  He had fun in his makeshift water slide.

A close-up of the At Home Haircut.  It doesn't look too bad, but there are lots of long hairs left!  I gave it a couple weeks and then took him into the barbershop and had Donnie cut it properly.  From now on I will only take Wyatt to the barbershop because they do a great job and the conversations are enjoyable (usually Mizzou stuff)

Mine and Derek's friend Chris (Baumann) Wheeler had a baby shower in July, hosted by Megan.  She got lots of great stuff and the food was delicious!  The Wheeler's chose not to find out the sex of the baby so it will be a big surprise in early September!  (I would put money on girl).

Where was Wyatt during the baby shower?  At Great-Gran's house!  He loves to go to Derek's Grandma Vesta's house.  She has kept a lot of toys from past generations of Holts and he loves to play with them!

The other big event in July was the wedding of Cara Weise and Garrett White in Beatrice, NE. (2nd Nebraska wedding this summer!)  Since this was during my lost camera fiasco, I have no pictures.  We did have a great time and it was a beautiful ceremony and rockin' reception!

New Camera!

Sorry about the lack of posts this month!  Early in the month, I lost my digital camera.  It was right after the 4th of July and the last time I remember seeing it was in the garage.  I have since cleaned the garage and went through most of the trash in the dumpster, still no camera!  I am hoping that it is stuck somewhere and it will turn up sometime.  But, I couldn't wait so I bought a new camera (I said it could be for my birthday, so Derek didn't make too much noise about it.)  Here are the first few pictures I took....

My favorite part is that I can take close-ups now!  I am working on uploading more pictures from July and of Wyatt's 3rd birthday - stay tuned!

Wyatt is the big 3!!!!

We celebrated Wyatt's 3rd birthday at home on July 9th with Grill-out and cake.  It wasn't too hot and it didn't rain!

He even knew what to do with the candles this year!  I actually made his cake, it was not fancy but it did look like something we all like - a baseball!

Wyatt's big gift from us (and Derek's parents) was a battery-operated lawnmower with trailer.  It took him a couple days to get used to it and he wouldn't take it out of its low gear for about a month!
What a special guy, we had both Grandmas and a Great-Gran to help celebrate!

Papa Bill got Wyatt this t-ball set.  Its never too early to start I guess :P

Another look at my minimal cake decorating skills but my amazing child making skills - Wyatt is such an awesome little guy and Derek and I love him very much!  I can't believe its been three years since this....

June 2010 = hot and rainy

June is almost over! I can't believe how fast it went, but with coaching basketball, Annual girls float trip, Edwards reunion, and keeping up with Wyatt I can't remember much of the month.

This has been a common sight this June, storm clouds rolling in and dumping a bunch of rain. If you haven't heard, Holt County has suffered a bunch of flooding. Check out Big Lake's website for info and pictures. Toward the end of the month the rain has been less frequent giving us a chance to catch up on farm work!

Kittens enjoy playing on my flower pots and holders. I have four to give away!

I am trying to get a handle on the mess in Wyatt's room. I bought one of these cubicals at Target for his books and small toys. We got all the books to fit and his room is much cleaner! I also moved the changing table out to make more room. He is not potty-trained but we do diapers on his bed. Still waiting for him to show some readiness to potty-train.

Still loving the swingset! Many times Wyatt will sit on the top of the slide and watch traffic go by, this day Derek is pushing him on the swing.

Wyatt and my Dad on the front porch of the Maclay Home in Tipton.

We visited our friends the Costello's one very hot day to use their pool. Wyatt loves Sherry and her kids (who are actually my students). Sarah is so good with him in the pool. He went to sleep very easily this night (so did Mommy!)

We went to town to eat dinner one night and then played a bit at Messick Park in Savannah.
